Scouting Report

An unrealistic yet intriguing hypothetical blockbuster, the Miami Dolphins take a lesson from Don Vito Corleone and “… make him an offer he can’t refuse.” Selling the farm of first-round picks acquired from  San Francisco, the Miami Dolphins make up for any potential error made in their ways selecting Tua Tagovailoa last year with ‘the generational quarterback talent of the 2020s.’ To acquire this selection though, the Miami Dolphins will not only be paying a premium on the pick for Lawrence but also for the job security of the Jaguars front office. Trading out of picking Lawrence, Jacksonville will need an unparalleled haul of future draft picks to justify such a decision.

Having already shown their might under the direction of Tagovailoa, the Miami Dolphins offensive improvement would likely be unprecedented with a talent under center who can push the offense downfield. Combined with off-field leadership skills touted at Clemson, Lawrence would quickly become ‘the guy’ within a Dolphins locker room seeking youthful leadership.

Although this would be a move Jacksonville Jaguars fans would likely never be able to forgive, the right collection of future draft assets could entice the organization to swap roles with the Miami Dolphins as the top team of the future and look to stick with the inexpensive Gardner Minshew (less than $1 million cap hit) and continue to fill out their roster for a mid-20s championship window.

Potential Trade:

*Jacksonville would likely want an additional first-round pick in this deal as well as some assortment of mid-round assets
