NFL Mock Draft 2021: Patriots, Washington trade up in 3-round mock
2021 NFL Mock Draft: 30th pick
The Buffalo Bills are one team that is in a rare position where they could really afford to take a shot on Jayson Oweh at the back end of the first round.
The Bills are a well-constructed roster from top to bottom with a great combination of youth and experience and they have done a tremendous job in recent years with player development on both sides of the ball.
Development and patience will be required for Oweh, who is still relatively new to football compared to his peers in this class, but he’s got star qualities athletically and big-time flashes on tape.
At 6-foot-5 and nearly 265 pounds, Oweh ran a freakishly fast 4.37 in the 40-yard dash with a 39-inch vertical jump. There is no doubt about Oweh’s explosiveness but he needs to learn how to finish more plays.
Some of his teammates at Penn State had the privilege this past season of cleaning up a lot of Oweh’s great pass rush work, so the potential is there, but when is the last time a pass rusher with zero sacks (even in a weird season) was taken in the first round?
As odd as it may be, Oweh actually really progressed this past season as a run defender and since he’s shown that he can set the edge, you have to be willing to bet on this guy’s ridiculous physical traits translating to the next level.
