NFL Mock Draft 2021: Patriots, Washington trade up in 3-round mock
2021 NFL Mock Draft: 10th pick
The Dallas Cowboys are apparently infatuated with the idea of adding Kyle Pitts to their offense.
Don’t be surprised if they try to trade up to do it, because there’s little chance that Pitts will be sitting on the board when they come on the clock at pick number 10 overall.
Jerry Jones has to realize that, while Pitts would be a fun addition to his star-studded offense, it would be much wiser to invest prime draft capital in the defensive side of the ball.
Specifically, Jerry needs to look at the defensive backfield where he could get a lot better in this particular draft class.
Patrick Surtain II could be considered the CB1 by many in this class. He has a very solid all-around combination of size, athleticism, ball skills, football QB, and playmaking ability. There may be other guys in this class with higher ceilings, but Surtain has a very high floor and his NFL bloodlines are apparent in the way he plays.
Pairing him with former Alabama teammate Trevon Diggs at the outside cornerback positions in Dallas could get this team back to being a bit more competitive on that side of the ball.
The Cowboys hired former Falcons head coach Dan Quinn to be their defensive coordinator this offseason. A physical, technically sound player like Surtain should fit right into his scheme.
