Washington Football Team 7-round mock draft after strong free agency
By Pablo Rosero
The Washington Football Team has franchised tagged Brandon Scherff for back-to-back seasons and could look to add some depth to the interior offensive line with the uncertainty of signing the former Pro-bowler to a long-term deal. After Washington selected Teven Jenkins in the first round of this mock draft, the team could solidify their left side for multiple years here in the third.
Quinn Meinerz, a former D3 player from Wisconsin-Whitewater, proved at the Senior Bowl that he can hold his own against other high-level draft prospects. Meinerz also has the ability to play both guard and center. Retooling the left side of the team’s offensive line would prove valuable as the team aims to protect Ryan Fitzpatrick and whatever other quarterback follows.
Meinerz’s stunning rise from D3 to a third-round pick has been nothing short of amazing and he should continue to produce at the professional level. Learning from an All-Pro in Scherff should also help Meinerz as he develops into a high-level NFL player.
Washington’s early emphasis on the offensive side of the ball in both the first three rounds of the draft and free agency shows that the team knows where it is weak and adding Meinerz will solve another need for Rivera’s team.
