2021 NFL Draft safety rankings: Grant and Moehrig battle for the top spot

4. Jevon Holland, Oregon
6-foot, 207 pounds
2021 NFL Draft grade: Third round
Jevon Holland has been the leader of Oregon’s secondary from the first day he stepped on the field. He led the team in interceptions in both 2018 and 2019, becoming the first Duck to lead the team in interceptions for two straight years since 2007. While his stock would have likely gone up with another strong season in 2020 Holland decided to sit out the year.
Holland is another safety in the 2021 NFL Draft class with strong cover skills. He was lined up as a nickel corner in Oregon’s defense most of the time and was able to hang with most slot receivers he faced. He did an outstanding job of going and getting the ball coming away with nine interceptions in just two years. To go along with his cover skills Holland is an aggressive defender vs. the run and a solid overall tackler.
Does Holland have the speed and quickness to play defensive back in the NFL? In coverage, he lacked the quick burst to close the cushion a receiver was able to get on him. His lack of speed could also make him a liability against the deep ball, which is a major concern for someone projected to play free safety. He is not the biggest safety in the class either and this lack of size might cause him some issues when asked to cover tight ends.
