2021 NFL Mock Draft: Who is willing to pay the Atlanta Falcons?
By Ian Higgins
After a tumultuous season that saw the Pittsburgh Steelers tumble from atop the AFC, the biggest question at Heinz Field will be the future of the quarterback position post-Roethlisberger. On the outside looking in, Pittsburgh won’t find themselves in a position to select one of the top five quarterbacks of the 2021 NFL Draft unless they pay the hefty toll to move up in the pecking order. With an unimpressive campaign from the running back committee though, Pittsburgh could seek a support system behind their aging signal-caller.
Taking over throughout Alabama’s run to the national championship, Najee Harris punished defensive fronts with brutish carries between the tackles. Showing his versatility as well, Jones relied upon Harris through the final three games of the season with 16 receptions and three touchdowns in the SEC championship against Florida.
With the first selection of the 2021 NFL Draft that requires the Jaguar’s organization to think on their feet, the focus will be on procuring offensive talent to surround their prized asset. With a respectable array of weapons currently in place, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be seeking a complimenting franchise left tackle.
With all of the conventional physical tools associated with a first-round left tackle, Virginia Tech’s Christian Darrisaw is a physical presence with a six-foot-five frame. Still working on his footwork, Darrisaw appears stiff but shows the potential to improve on his mobility skills with time. With strength in the running game, Darrisaw would add value as a key blocker for James Robinson in the running game.
After witnessing the first season in years that gave Cleveland Browns fans a taste of the postseason, the 2021 NFL Draft is a time to patch holes still remaining in their defense. Having signed former Atlanta pass-rusher Takkarist McKinley, the Browns will still be searching for a solid complimentary pass-rusher to Myles Garrett.
Breaking out as a turnover generator for the Georgia Bulldogs defense, Azeez Ojulari is a 249-pound defensive end with 34.3-inch arms and a 4.62-forty. Although solidly built, Ojulari uses first-step burst and impressive bend to outdo tackles with speed. With such athleticism, Ojulari can even offer value as a strongside linebacker, bolstering an otherwise uninspiring unit.
