4. Wide Receiver

Green Bay Packers fans have been clamoring for the front office to upgrade at wide receiver for some time now. Even with many players that will enter free agency in 2021 at the position, it seems unlikely that the Packers put a heavy investment into receiver in this class.

The most likely investment will be in receivers with the height/weight/speed combo, or a player who is versatile that fits the gadget/slot role.

Kadarius Toney is obviously someone who fits the bill in the early rounds. His wiggle and lateral quickness are elite, and he sinks his hips effortlessly to change direction. Toney brings enough speed to the table and can hit an extra gear with his linear speed.

If they go the height/weight/speed route, Terrace Marshall makes plenty of sense. He has excellent hands, tracks the football well, and shows great burst and acceleration after the catch.

There are plenty of slot/gadget players in the 2021 NFL Draft that the Packers could select later. Amari Rodgers has the reliability and toughness to succeed in the slot, and has the dense build to get reps at running back as well. UCLA’s Demetric Felton is another with even more experience in the backfield who fits better as a slot receiver. Felton dominated down at the Senior Bowl, creating separation with ease in 1v1s. Ihmir Smith-Marsette to the Packers is gaining steam, as he provides gadget value but also value as a deep threat. Lastly, Cade Johnson is another undersized but effective player who can succeed with schemed touches.

In a draft where gadget players are plentiful, the Green Bay Packers could very well upgrade there.
