Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Adding pieces to the secondary
The running back room is pretty barren right now after Miles Sanders. While Boston Scott is a nice role player, he isn’t a consistent RB2. The Philadelphia Eagles could look to find another player in the 2021 NFL Draft to fit behind Sanders, and Chris Evans can be that guy.
He isn’t a superhero at the position, but Evans is a pretty good athlete who makes smart decisions between the tackles and picks up key yardage with good first step explosion through the crease.
The Eagles are a team that likes to add depth along the defensive line, and Mustafa Johnson is a nice value at the end of round six. Johnson brings some juice to the interior with a quick first step, good pad level, and good agility and change of direction skills. He can be a rotational rusher in the NFL who can bring the heat on third downs.
The last of picks here in the secondary for the Philadelphia Eagles, Bryan Mills is another project corner with tantalizing upside. He has the size and physicality to play on the outside, but just needs more work with route recognition and staying patient.
The Philadelphia Eagles finish up with yet another selection at wide receiver, which loads up the room from the last two drafts. Last year they drafted for speed, and now they draft for size.
Smith is an ideal possession type receiver who is good with his hands, runs solid routes, and is reliable at the catch point. He lacks the deep speed that others on their roster have, but his reliability separates him.
