Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Adding pieces to the secondary
As mentioned in the last slide, the Philadelphia Eagles are in dire need of assistance in the secondary. Outside of Slay and Jameson Houston, there’s no one under contract past the 2021 season. Bringing in an elite talent makes a ton of sense in the first round, especially if the top three wide receivers are off the board.
That’s where Jaycee Horn comes in. The son of former NFL wideout Joe Horn, Jaycee continued to rise up draft boards throughout the 2020 season. In seven games in 2020, Horn picked off two passes and broke up six passes, and was a nightmare to target in coverage. He showed marked improvement in man coverage with his transitional quickness, and was physical throughout receivers’ routes up through the catch point.
Horn dominated at his pro day, putting up eye-popping numbers in every testing drill. He ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash and was in the 98th percentile in both the vertical and the broad jump. Horn also put up 19 reps on the bench press, a great number for a corner.
Horn would be an excellent complement to Slay on the perimeter, and if he cleans up some issues with too much contact, he can become a lockdown CB1 in Philadelphia.
