2021 NFL Draft: 3 players the Miami Dolphins could select at No. 6
2. Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
Familiarity is the name of the game with this possibility. Obviously, it would be great for the Miami Dolphins to give Tagovailoa one of his college wide receivers to make him more comfortable with his development. The most likely of the two has to be Jaylen Waddle.
Waddle would bring a different skill set to the Dolphins than Chase. He has natural explosiveness that isn’t matched by anyone in the class. He is the ultimate angle-eraser after the catch and has the speed to eat up cushion and blow by defenders in off-coverage. Waddle is quick and efficient in and out of breaks and while he’s developing as a route runner, his change of direction skills, flexibility, and short-area acceleration will make up for it while he develops. Let’s also not forget his ability to make plays in contested spots.
Waddle will be able to win down the field with ease while also finding a way to succeed in contested spots. He can win quickly and help out Tagovailoa in the short passing game while also turning schemed touches into efficient production. He would be a true weapon in the Miami Dolphins offense and could be the player they need most.
