2021 NFL Draft: 3 players the Miami Dolphins could select at No. 6
Even as we sit just over a month until the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins didn’t wait to make some big-time moves. Miami traded back with the San Francisco 49ers, giving up the number three overall selection for the 12th pick, a first-rounder and third-rounder in 2022, and a first-round pick in 2023.
The Miami Dolphins weren’t done after that, sending the 12th pick, pick 123, and their own first-rounder next year to move up to the sixth overall pick, also acquiring pick 156 in the process.
Miami continues to build up large draft capital, which has been going on since they moved Laremy Tunsil to Houston for a pair of first-round picks. They’ve now received four first-round selections since that move.
That amount of capital has given them the flexibility to move up when needed to secure a coveted prospect on their board. The 2021 draft will be no different, as they’ve just shown in moving up six slots.
Miami is in a perfect spot to potentially select the top skill position player in the 2021 NFL Draft. It’s looking like the first three picks will indeed be quarterbacks, and the Atlanta Falcons, despite having Matt Ryan in-house, could look for an heir as well, or could potentially trade out of the pick with a quarterback-needy team. The Bengals could look for a skill player, but with Penei Sewell on the board and one major injury to Joe Burrow in his young career, going offensive line makes sense.
So who could the Miami Dolphins select with that number six selection? It’s a playmaker, but which one?
Let’s look at the top three options for the Dolphins at that spot.
