The Denver Broncos did a great job of filling their most obvious holes on the roster through free agency. They will enter the 2021 NFL Draft with the ability to take the best player available or move around the board as they deem necessary.

A trade up for a new quarterback is possible but the price was high in this 2021 NFL mock draft. Instead of moving up, the Broncos move down in this NFL mock draft, picking up extra draft capital as the Jacksonville Jaguars make an aggressive move for a new offensive playmaker.

2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 9th overall

Pick Analysis. 9. 52. player. Player Stats. TE. Florida. Kyle Pitts

The Jaguars make a big boy move in the first round of this 2021 NFL mock draft, trading all the way up to No. 9 overall for Kyle Pitts. Trevor Lawrence is all but guaranteed to be the Jaguars’ new franchise quarterback and if they can find a way to get him an elite rookie weapon like Pitts, they need to pounce on the opportunity.

Pitts is a tremendous talent at the tight end position who shows fantastic upside as a receiver. He is a big and powerful target who can dominate in contested-catch situations and also shows impressive speed and fluidity. If a team tries to match Pitts with a defensive back, he can post them up and over-power them in a jump ball situation. If they check him with a linebacker, he can use his speed to create separation and create after the catch. Make no mistake about it, this guy is an absolute matchup nightmare.

While his ability as a receiver consistently stands out, Pitts can also hold his own as a blocker. He shows great competitive toughness up front and should only improve as a blocker as he fills out his frame at the next level. Simply put, Pitts is a rare talent at the tight end position who undoubtedly has massive upside at the next level. Adding both him and Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft would be a dream scenario for Jacksonville.
