NFL mock draft 2021: Justin Fields, Trey Lance land in perfect situations
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 20th overall
The Chicago Bears would obviously like to find a true franchise quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, as we saw earlier in this 2021 NFL mock draft, the price to acquire those players is not going to be cheap. It is difficult to see the Bears moving up far enough to snag one of the top five quarterbacks in this class but this board actually falls pretty well to them at No. 20.
With their first-round selection of this NFL mock draft, the Bears find nice value in the selection of Christian Darrisaw. Darrisaw is a big, long and athletic offensive tackle prospect who shows exciting movement ability in space. When he is locked in, Darrisaw is a premier pass protector who protects well against both speed and power. He is also a strong second-level run blocker who understands angles in the run game well and shows good power at the point of attack.
Besides quarterback, offensive tackle is likely the biggest need on the Bears’ roster. This team needs to work hard to improve at both tackle spots, as the duo of Charles Leno and Bobby Massie have simply not been getting the job done.
Darrisaw could come in and be an immediate improvement for the team at either tackle position and also provide exciting long-term upside. The Bears have not found their franchise quarterback but adding a rock-solid offensive tackle like Darrisaw would put them in a better position for success when they do find the right guy.
