2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 18th overall

EDGE. Kwity Paye. Player Stats. Pick Analysis. player. 59. Michigan. 18

Kwity Paye is a unique edge defender who has an impressive combination of size, power and explosive athleticism. He is a bit of an undeveloped player whose best days of football could easily be ahead of him.

Paye is a big and powerful player who sets a strong edge and shows impressive power at the point of attack. He is a physical defender who shows good instincts against the run and displays exciting upside as a power rusher.

While he is undoubtedly a power-based player, do not sleep on Paye’s ability to explode off of the ball and make plays as a speed rusher. He displays an explosive first step, consistently gets upfield quickly and does a great job of converting speed to power. Make no mistake about it, Paye has exciting upside as a pass rusher on the outside.

The Dolphins could certainly use some more impact talent at the edge rusher position and Paye would fit their defense well. He could take on a major role for the team on the edge on early downs but also has the size to kick inside and create pressure on the interior on obvious passing downs. In Paye, the Dolphins find themselves a potential impact defender who would provide immediate value and a ton of long-term upside.
