The Miami Dolphins shook up the 2021 NFL Draft with two trades on Friday. They first traded down with the San Francisco 49ers to the 12th spot in the draft, then within the hour traded up with the Philadelphia Eagles to the number six spot in the 2021 NFL Draft. These moves put the Dolphins in a great position to take the top receiver in the 2021 NFL Draft and still pick up some valuable picks.

The fact Miami traded just in front of Detroit for the number six pick, sure gives the impression that they will look at wide receivers with this pick. This is a need for the team even after they signed Will Fuller to a one-year deal, as the team must surround Tua Tagovailoa with more offensive talent.

Despite sitting out the 2020 season LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase is still widely regarded as the top receiver in the 2021 NFL Draft. Chase has the skill set to become one of the best receivers in the NFL as he shows outstanding hands and also does a terrific job of tracking the deep ball. It would not be a surprise if the team decided to go with Jaylen Waddle with this pick either, as he has the speed the team is looking to add to its wide receiver group.

The biggest need on the Dolphin’s defense is finding an edge rusher. This is a need as the team cut Kyle Van Noy and traded away Shaq Lawson this offseason. While the Dolphins did resign Vince Biegel they will likely be looking to upgrade at this position.

While it might be a surprise if Parsons falls this far in the draft, his character concerns could cause him to fall this far. Parsons has the natural talent Brian Flores loves and has proven he knows how to get after the passer. He would also do best under a coach like Flores who is known to be a disciplinarian.
