2021 NFL Draft: Washington trades up for Justin Fields in NFL mock draft
By Kyle Edmond
Heading into the 2020 season, almost everyone expected the Panthers to have to first pick, but they performed well above expectations, and a lot of that was due to Teddy Bridgewater. I understand the drive to find the franchise quarterback, but I still think Bridgewater could be that guy.
So instead of making a move for a quarterback, why not surround Bridgewater with talent? He already has one of the best running backs in the game with Christian McCaffrey, but here he gets one of the most dynamic players in the 2021 NFL Draft.
What Pitts has been able to do on the football field is near incredible from the tight end position. His size and stature are that of a tight end, but his skill set is more comparable to a wide receiver. A year ago, Pitts caught 43 passes and 12 were touchdowns, meaning more than a quarter of his catches ended up in the end zone.
Placing Pitts on an offense with McCaffrey, D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson should give Bridgewater plenty to work with. If he pans out, then you have your guy. If he doesn’t, then the Panthers can revisit quarterback in next year’s draft and have a talented offense for him to walk into right away.
