OT. Samuel Cosmi. 124. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Texas. 31. player

The Kansas City Chiefs seemed like they were a dynasty in the making and then the salary cap happened. They still could be a dynasty, but the amount of pieces they are losing this offseason, specifically on offense, will make it much more difficult. Most notably, they had to cut ties with both starting tackles and the top two centers on the depth chart.

The Chiefs have started rebuilding the line with Joe Thuney, Kyle Long and Prince Tega Wanogho, but Wanogho and Martinas Rankin don’t seem like tackles that will help get the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl. Sure, Mahomes can work his magic, but only to a certain point.

With that, the Chiefs take a much-needed tackle in Samuel Cosmi in the first round. Where Cosmi goes could range really anywhere across the first round. Being mostly a right tackle at Texas, he can play either side, which will be a big plus for the Chiefs, widening their options to address the other spot as well.

Given all the pieces exiting Kansas City, a regression should be expected in 2021, but adding a tackle like Cosmi in the first round will help curb that regression and get the team back to competing for Super Bowls in the near future.
