The Indianapolis Colts might have one of the harder decisions to make in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. They have so many needs for starters and just don’t have the draft assets to make them all happen this year. They could trade down to help, but being the back half of the first round makes that even more difficult.

Here, they opt to go with a much-needed left tackle in Jalen Mayfield to replace Anthony Castonzo who retired. The one downside for Indianapolis here is that Mayfield was predominately a right tackle at Michigan, which means either moving Mayfield to the left tackle or Braden Smith. For that reason, Samuel Cosmi could be in play since he has more experience, or they could explore the idea of a trade.

For the Colts, they currently don’t have a left tackle on the roster, which seems to show their hand a bit for the draft unless something changes. They need help at other positions, but given the injury history of Carson Wentz and the team’s desire to run the offense through Jonathan Taylor, a left tackle will be the main priority for them in the draft or their whole season could be a question mark.
