2021 NFL Draft: Washington trades up for Justin Fields in NFL mock draft
By Kyle Edmond
The Chicago Bears have really just been a mystery this offseason. They were tied to Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson, but in the end, they are entering the 2021 season with Andy Dalton under center and Nick Foles as the backup, which doesn’t seem a whole lot better than Mitchell Trubisky and Foles. Now, Dalton has some playoff experience, sure, but they still don’t have a plan for the future at the moment.
Regardless, that’s what we’re working with here and if that’s the plan for the Bears, then they need to add some protection. Not only could they use an upgrade over Charles Leno Jr. and Bobby Massie on the offensive line, but position flexibility that could allow them to shed some cap would help as well. Drafting a left tackle here would help on both fronts.
Almost all of Christian Darrisaw’s collegiate experience is at the left tackle position, making him ready to step in on day one and have an impact on the line, just like he did as a freshman at Virginia Tech. He was named to the First Team All-ACC in 2020 after being Athlon Second Team All-ACC and Phil Steele Third Team All-ACC in 2019.
