TRADE: Washington sent pick to Detroit who then traded it to San Francisco

This pick has become the main bargaining chip of the first round in this mock draft, seeing the Washington Football Team trade it to Detroit for No. 7, then the Lions sending it to San Francisco for No. 12 and now finally being used by the 49ers. With the quarterbacks gone by No. 12, the 49ers moved down and still get an important piece at No. 19.

If the 49ers are going to roll with Jimmy G, which seems to be the case, they need to ensure he can stay healthy. Locking up Trent Williams was a big step and Mike McGlinchey has the right tackle set, so now they can start to work on the interior of the line. Alex Mack was a solid signing, but if they can add another guard that would almost solidify the line.

That’s where Alijah Vera-Tucker comes in. Vera-Tucker and the 49ers have been linked before and this is no different. He has solid experience at both offensive guard positions and has received plenty of accolades during his time at USC. If San Francisco wants to play it safe, then picking him at No. 12 would be justified, but here they still get him while also adding assets for the future.
