Looking over the Broncos’ roster beyond 2021, one of the team’s top needs could be another safety to pair with Justin Simmons.

At this point, it’s hard to pin Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah into one particular position because he plays all over the place.

Once again, the Broncos have struggled badly covering tight ends in recent years. Specifically, Travis Kelce and Darren Waller have given them fits, and in some cases that could be by design (intentionally taking Tyreek Hill out of the game, etc.).

With that being said, the JOK of all trades could be an intriguing fit, doubling as an off-ball linebacker as well as box safety, nickel defender, matchup weapon, or whatever the Broncos would view him as.

Vic Fangio likes to keep his personnel on the field for three downs if possible, so there could be an issue of fit there if the Broncos don’t like Owusu-Koramoah for their two-high safety looks or as a three-down off-ball linebacker. You’re not spending a first-round pick on a guy who strictly comes onto the field for third downs, but you might use one if he could make dealing with the Kelce’s and Waller’s of the NFL world a little easier.

Owusu-Koramoah is incredibly physical even at 220 pounds (or lighter) and he is an attacker. He plays great in coverage and he can blitz.

With five forced fumbles over two seasons with the Fighting Irish in addition to seven pass breakups, seven sacks, 24.5 tackles for loss, and an interception, this is a guy who just makes plays all over the place. Find a spot to play him full-time.
