In Vic Fangio’s first two years with the Denver Broncos, John Elway has nearly used a first-round pick on the linebacker position.

In 2019, the Broncos very nearly used their 10th overall pick on Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, but they ended up trading down 10 spots with the Steelers, who selected him instead.

In 2020, they very nearly traded into the first round after picking Jerry Jeudy to select Patrick Queen, who was ultimately selected by the Ravens instead.

Will their third year be the charm?

The linebacker position in Denver could be upgraded, though Alexander Johnson and Josey Jewell have both proven to be capable starters. The Broncos’ attempts at getting Bush and Queen indicate they are seeking a more athletic linebacker with the potential to maybe cover the likes of Travis Kelce and Darren Waller.

Jamin Davis is a really underrated option who has been getting some first-round love as of late.

Davis, in 10 games this past season, racked up 102 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, and two more pass breakups.

At 6-foot-4, 234 pounds, he’s a physical freak with tremendous range, athletic ability, and speed.

There is undeniably some risk/reward potential with Davis here. He doesn’t have as much time on task as other linebackers in this class but the physical and athletic package is tempting, no question.
