850. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. South Carolina. player. CB. Jaycee Horn.

A true man-to-man corner, Jaycee Horn would benefit from playing for a team where he does not need to be the covering the best wideout on the other team’s offense right off the bat. Having added William Jackson III in the offseason and allowing Kendell Fuller to play the nickel would allow the team to bring in Horn as their number two corner in a division loaded with wideout threats.

The former South Carolina Gamecock features interesting tape and played in a conference that has multiple first-round prospects. In his game against Auburn in 2020, Horn kept projected third-round pick, Seth Williams, in check when pressed on him. He ended that game with two interceptions, his only two on the season.

At 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, Horn has the height to match up against some bigger wideouts and has the speed, a recorded 4.39s 40-yard dash time, to match up with quicker wideouts. He will likely need to bulk up a bit more in the NFL since physicality is a key part of his game.

Some of the knocks on his game include being overly physical at times when could lead to increased penalties at the next level. Horn also has an issue with taking bad angles on tackles and not being as good in zone coverage as he is in man. Horn will need to improve in zone, but Washington plays a mix of coverage that could help hide his weaknesses.

Many teams early in the draft have needs at corner and it is possible Horn does not fall to them at No. 19. However, the Washington Football Team does have a need at cornerback and drafting a player like Horn would improve an already top-notch defense.
