2021 NFL Mock Draft: 25th pick

Ohio State. Baron Browning. Pick Analysis. LB. 25. player. 52. Scouting Report

After taking Trevor Lawrence first overall, we’re going to get a much clearer picture of the kind of strategy to expect from the combination of Trent Baalke and Urban Meyer.

At this point, the Jaguars could go any number of directions, so why not a little bit of a surprise?

Urban Meyer of course recruited Browning to the Ohio State program when he was a five-star prospect back in the class of 2017, and while Browning doesn’t have the most jaw-dropping statistics among linebackers in this class, he has one of the most versatile skill sets.

With his ability to cover, play the run, rush the passer, play off the edge, and play the traditional off-ball role, Browning is a defensive weapon who will be gone early in the second round if a team like the Jaguars doesn’t pick him late in the first round like this.

Some team behind them could very well “reach” on him a bit and determine he won’t make it to the bottom of round two, which he won’t.

When he gets a chance to show his athletic skills at the Ohio State pro day, everyone is going to see what kind of rare breed this guy is.

He was tremendous at the week of Senior Bowl practices and would give the Jaguars a big-time weapon for their defensive front seven.
