The Pittsburgh Steelers figured out a way to bring back quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and fit him under the 2021 salary cap, but they weren’t done there.
Although they lost a couple of key defenders like Bud Dupree and Mike Hilton, Pittsburgh was able to retain wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster on a one-year deal despite some better offers from other teams.
One underrated loss for the Steelers in 2021, though? Defensive lineman Tyson Alualu, who returned to the team that drafted him in Jacksonville.
If the Steelers want to go best player at a position of need here, they could very well go with Alabama’s Christian Barmore, an absolute stud on the defensive interior who is really just scratching the surface of the kind of player he can become.
In just 22 games at Alabama, he racked up 63 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks, including eight sacks and three forced fumbles this past season.
He’s got length, overwhelming power, and plays with tremendous effort. I think he can play all over the line for the Steelers and make life easier for the rest of this team’s pass rushers in the process.
