NFL Mock Draft 2021: 2 rounds post-free agency first wave
2021 NFL Mock Draft: 21st pick
Indianapolis Colts key additions so far
- QB Carson Wentz
- WR JJ Nelson
- DL Isaac Rochell
- DL Andrew Brown
The Indianapolis Colts decided to buy low on Carson Wentz after his falling out with the Philadelphia Eagles.
When Wentz was playing at an MVP level for the Eagles in 2017, he was being coached up by Frank Reich, who is obviously now the head man with the Colts.
Indianapolis has reason to believe Wentz can turn it around with Reich again, but they are certainly taking a measured risk here.
Besides adding Wentz, the Eagles have been relatively quiet so far in the 2021 free agency period. They have plenty of cap space but they are being patient if not frugal up to this point.
The Colts still need a left tackle and more help in the defensive backfield, and they could go with either position early in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Jaycee Horn sitting on the board might be too good to pass up given the number of tackles that are gone at this point compared to cornerbacks.
Horn is an NFL legacy (his father, Joe, played WR for the Saints) and he certainly has the competitiveness you would expect from someone who has been around football their whole life.
Horn never believes there’s a matchup he shouldn’t be favored in and while his aggressiveness can get the better of him at times, he is quick to react, physical, and he makes plays on the ball.
He has CB1 potential at the NFL level.
