2021 NFL Mock Draft: 16th pick

Arizona Cardinals key additions so far

  • DL JJ Watt
  • WR AJ Green
  • C Rodney Hudson

The Arizona Cardinals have certainly made some “all-in” types of moves in the 2021 offseason.

They got things off to a roaring start by signing JJ Watt after he was cut by the Houston Texans, fortifying their defensive line and bringing in another player who can create pressure along with Chandler Jones, Markus Golden, and Jordan Phillips.

Then the Cardinals took to free agency and brought in veteran AJ Green, a fellow member of Watt’s vaunted 2011 NFL Draft class. Green gives them another option (when healthy) to take pressure off of DeAndre Hopkins.

Rodney Hudson might be the best center in the NFL, so the Cardinals were not turned off by trading a third-round pick to the Raiders to get him.

With their defensive front looking very solid, the Cardinals need to add to the secondary. Veteran Patrick Peterson is off to Minnesota and the Cardinals’ defensive backfield depth has been depleted in recent years even with Peterson aboard.

Caleb Farley might be the CB1 of this class and for him to fall to the Cardinals’ pick here?

Arizona would absolutely be down for that.

Vance Joseph’s defense needs guys who can lock it down in man coverage, and Farley’s ball skills behind the pass rush this team is going to get? That could be a dangerous combination for teams throwing against Arizona.
