When the 2021 NFL Free Agency signing period opened up, the New England Patriots spared no expense.
In addition to these moves, the Pats re-upped with quarterback Cam Newton and unlike 2020, they seem to be really putting him in a position to succeed in 2021.
Newton will have some stud tight ends to get the ball to and if Nelson Agholor can keep the momentum going that he had in Las Vegas last year, they might have themselves a heck of a set of weapons all around.
Defensively, the Patriots made some big additions to their front seven as well. With the second-round tender given to cornerback JC Jackson, they should have the majority of their back end set for 2021 but they could look to the 2021 NFL Draft for some additional help.
Jalen Mills has played both safety and cornerback in his NFL career, so until we see where the Patriots are playing him for sure, they should be considered a prime landing spot for a player like Trevon Moehrig, a versatile defensive back that Bill Belichick will love who can line up as a free safety, box safety, or even nickel corner.
Moehrig won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation’s top defensive back, and he has the type of character and football IQ the Patriots love.
