Dallas Cowboys key additions so far

  • OT Ty Nsekhe
  • LS Jake McQuade

The Dallas Cowboys’ biggest addition in 2021 was not technically an “addition” at all, but the team shelled out the big bucks for quarterback Dak Prescott, keeping their franchise player in place for the foreseeable future.

Prescott is the latest Cowboys offensive player to get an enormous amount of cash, and he made sure to make this one count considering the scary injury he suffered in 2020.

The Cowboys gave Prescott $126 million in guaranteed cash, $95 million of it guaranteed at signing. The total money in the deal is $140 million over four seasons, putting Prescott among the league’s highest-paid players ever.

With so much money poured into the offense, there is no question that Dallas is going to need to use their top draft capital on defense. The cornerback position would be a good place to start after losing Chidobe Awuzie (Bengals) in free agency.

The team did re-sign nickel corner Jourdan Lewis, but bringing another outside corner like Patrick Surtain II to pair with Trevon Diggs would give the Cowboys a very strong, young trio of cornerbacks to build thier secondary around.

Surtain was as close to “shut down” as you will find in college football these days and pairing him with his old running mate at Alabama is a fun idea.
