2021 NFL Draft: Ranking the top quarterback prospects with tiers
The 2021 NFL Draft class has a chance to be special at the quarterback position. There is a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball in this class but the quarterback talent particularly stands out. There are certainly a handful of signal-callers in the 2021 NFL Draft who have a chance to become absolute superstars at the next level.
Not only is there a ton of top-tier quarterback talent available, but there are also plenty of quarterback-needy teams at the beginning of the draft. There are also many teams picking in the top half of the first round who could aggressively move up the board to land one of these top quarterback prospects.
In the modern NFL, teams basically do not have a chance to compete for a Super Bowl unless they have a legitimate playmaker at the quarterback position. That thought process coupled with the extreme talent at the quarterback position in this class could lead to an exciting quarterback frenzy at the very top of the 2021 NFL Draft. Do not be surprised if we see quarterbacks come off of the board with the first four picks. It also seems relatively likely that we will see five quarterbacks go in the top 10.
Make no mistake about it, this quarterback class is special. In this post, we are going to dig into how special these players are and attempt to accurately rank them based on how good they will be at the next level. We will also separate these quarterbacks into tiers as we try to see where the talent at the position separates.
2021 NFL Draft: Quarterback Tier 1
QB1: Trevor Lawrence, Clemson
No surprise here. Trevor Lawrence has been the top quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft class and the likely No. 1 overall pick throughout the entire process. Lawrence is a special athlete at the position who shows elite natural arm talent and fantastic rushing ability. He can make any throw on the field with ease, places the ball with nearly perfect accuracy on a consistent basis and is a dynamic playmaker who can dominate create with his legs as well as any quarterback in the class.
Lawrence is without a doubt the best prospect in the class and will be the first overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. He is on a tier of his own in the entire class.
