Player Stats

The Patriots’ primary 2021 NFL Draft needs seem to be on the offensive side of the ball. They should make their offense the priority early in the draft but this team still has defensive needs that must be addressed. Ideally, the New England Patriots would be able to find a talented linebacker prospect at some point in the 2021 NFL Draft and Cameron McGrone feels like a strong fourth-round target.

McGrone is an extremely strong linebacker prospect who shows impressive block shed ability and tackles well in space. He moves well for a power-based linebacker and shows exciting ability as a weapon in the blitz game. McGrone lacks ideal coverage ability at this point in his career but he would undoubtedly be a strong addition to the Patriots’ defensive mix as a mid-round target.

Scouting Report

The New England Patriots should look to make an aggressive move up the board for a quarterback in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. However, the top quarterback prospects are going to go extremely early and moving up from No. 15 is not going to be easy. If the Pats cannot get in a position to land Lance or one of the top quarterback prospects in the class, they should look to target the position with a high-upside player later.

Jamie Newman is a big and strong dual-threat quarterback prospect who undoubtedly has exciting upside at the next level. He is an extremely raw prospect but has the physical skill-set needed to grow into a starting-caliber player. Newman has a big arm and shows exciting athleticism at the quarterback position. He would not be able to come in and make an immediate impact for the team but if developed properly, Newman at least has some high-level upside.
