2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 25th overall

25. 52. Scouting Report. Northwestern. Greg Newsome II. player. Pick Analysis. CB

Greg Newsome II is a long and athletic cornerback prospect who shines in man coverage and consistently displays fantastic natural ball skills. He has risen up boards in recent weeks and has appears to be establishing himself as a near-lock for the first round.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are the team to bring in Newsome in this 2021 NFL mock draft, adding him to the mix at the cornerback position. Pairing Newsome with last year’s first-round pick CJ Henderson would give Jacksonville an extremely young and talented cornerback duo to build their defense around. Adding Newsome to the mix gives Jacksonville yet another gifted young defender with high upside. This unit could be dominant in a couple of years.

2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 26th overall

EDGE. Penn State. Jayson Oweh. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 53. 26

Jayson Oweh was never the most productive edge defender in college but his athletic upside at the position is incredibly obvious. Oweh is an extremely quick and explosive edge rusher who fires off of the ball in an instant and bends around the edge with ease. He consistently gets great upfield burst as a pass rusher and displays impressive closing speed when he finds a crease.

At this point in his career, Oweh is a trait-based player who does not really know what he is doing out there. He undoubtedly has high long-term upside but Oweh is not currently ready to be anything more than a part-time NFL player who plays exclusively on passing downs.

That being said, his athletic upside is tremendous, making him a worthy target for teams late in the first round. In this NFL mock draft, the Cleveland Browns are the team that swings for the fences on Oweh, hoping to add him as a long-term pass-rush partner to Myles Garrett.
