2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 11th overall

Scouting Report. TE. 11. player. 31. Pick Analysis. Florida. Kyle Pitts

The New York Giants strike gold in the first round of this 2021 NFL mock draft as Kyle Pitts falls to them at No. 11. Pitts is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in this draft class and the only real question about taking him in the top 10 is his positional value. Pitts is listed as a tight end, but there is so much more to his game than a typical tight end prospect.

Pitts is an absolute matchup nightmare on the field. He is a quick and explosive receiver who can legitimately stretch the field and create after the catch. He is simply too fast for most linebackers to handle in the middle field. On top of that, Pitts is a big and powerful player who consistently shines in contested-catch situations. Try to match his speed with a defensive back and Pitts will box the defender out and dominate him in the jump-ball game.

When it comes down to it, Pitts is a difficult player to defend no matter who you can match up against him. He is a true impact receiver who shines in the short, intermediate and deep passing game. Call Pitts a tight end if you want, but do not disrespect what he can do on the field. Pitts will make an impact in the passing game like a wide receiver at the next level.

The Giants lack a true No. 1 passing game target in their offensive attack and adding Pitts to the mix would give them that guy. If they want to give Daniel Jones a chance to establish himself as the true franchise quarterback of this team, giving him Pitts certainly increases his chance to have success.
