2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 10th overall

CB. Patrick Surtain II. 10. player. 123. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Alabama

With the Dak Prescott contract extension now behind them, it is certainly tempting to give the Dallas Cowboys another offensive weapon. Kyle Pitts in Dallas would be exciting in the best way possible. That being said, the Cowboys’ defense was an absolute mess last season and they have needs all across the unit. Dallas simply must invest in their defense this offseason and that includes making the unit a priority in the first round of the draft.

In this 2021 NFL mock draft, Patrick Surtain II stands out as the best choice for the Dallas Cowboys at No. 10. Surtain is not a physical freak like the cornerback that went earlier than him in this NFL mock draft, but he is a tremendous coverage player who undoubtedly has a bright future at the next level.

Surtain already looks like a 10-year NFL veteran on the field. He understands coverage responsibilities extremely well and displays fantastic natural instincts at all times. He is a tough and physical defender who wins with press coverage at the line of scrimmage and has the quickness needed to keep up with the receiver throughout the route. Surtain is a real weapon in both man and zone coverage and also shows tremendous natural ball skills.

Surtain will enter the league as a ready-made starting cornerback and that is important for the Dallas Cowboys. He would bring immediate value to their defense and certainly has the ability to grow into a premier No. 1 cornerback for the team. Make no mistake about it, Surtain makes sense for Dallas at No. 10.
