NFL Free Agency 2021: Predicting one move for all 32 teams
The 2021 offseason has been a projected reckoning for the New Orleans Saints for quite some time.
The Saints are the NFL’s version of a Nicolas Cage character trying to fight their way out of salary cap hell. How are they going to do it?
The Saints will have to be creative about finding ways to restructure contracts and kick the can of certain salary cap hits down the road as much as possible, and they are on their way with a number of veteran cuts already made and somehow only $19 million in dead cap (so far) to show for it.
One way or another, it will be interesting to see if the Saints put their money (whatever is left of it) where their mouths are and re-sign Jameis Winston, the former number one overall pick who didn’t throw even a dozen passes for them last season despite Drew Brees’ injury.
Winston might be willing to give the Saints another discount to stick around, but he better get his playing time for 2021 in writing or something.
If Winston comes back, you would have to assume that Brees is officially officially done and that the Saints are planning on Famous Jameis as their starting QB for 2021.
