NFL Free Agency 2021: Predicting one move for all 32 teams
The New York Giants under general manager Dave Gettleman and head coach Joe Judge are obviously going to value and prioritize versatility, and that is something Kerry Hyder brings to the table.
One of the more underrated free agent defensive players in this particular crop, Hyder had 8.5 sacks this past season for the 49ers very quietly.
Not only that, but in the 2016 season in Detroit, he posted eight sacks.
Where his production went between that time (missed 2017 season, low snap counts in 2018 and 2019 with Detroit and Dallas), is somewhat of a mystery, but he’s the type of underrated player the Giants (or any team) should be prioritizing.
There are a number of really underrated free agents along the defensive line in this class, but virtually nobody is talking about Hyder and that is rare for a guy who had 8.5 sacks and 18 QB hits in a season.
His productivity would be welcomed on the Giants’ defensive front off the edge, to be certain.
