Denver Broncos complete seven-round 2021 NFL mock draft
Denver Broncos mock draft: Round 3, 102nd overall
The Broncos may not deem it necessary to invest heavily in a Drew Lock replacement at the quarterback position, but they need to add some legitimate quarterback competition this offseason. They could certainly look to go the veteran route for this, but swinging for the fences with a potential long-term answer at the quarterback position would certainly make some sense as well.
In this mock draft, the Broncos address their quarterback need with the selection of Kellen Mond here late in the third round. Mond is far from a perfect quarterback prospect, but his athletic upside is impressive. He is a big and strong signal-caller who shows impressive natural athletic ability and a big arm.
Mond can sling nearly anywhere on the field and while his accuracy is inconsistent, there are flashes on tape of him being a pinpoint passer. He is a true dual-threat weapon who fits the modern NFL well and could grow into a viable starting option at the next level.
The Broncos will likely give Lock another chance to establish himself as the franchise quarterback this upcoming season. That being said, he has not proven himself as the long-term answer at the position and the Broncos would be wise to get a potential replacement ready. Using a mid-round selection on a high upside quarterback like Mond would certainly make sense for the Denver Broncos.
