3. Houston Texans

The Texans have to start doing some things to get Deshaun Watson interested in sticking around.

New head coach David Culley and general manager Nick Caserio brought in former Detroit Lions interim head coach Robert Prince to be their wide receivers coach.

In NFL free agency, it’s not a bad idea to look for connections around the league, though sometimes that is more for guys who maybe need a “prove it” type of situation at their next stop, which is not necessarily true for Golladay.

It might be a tough sell for the Texans to get a player like Golladay, but they haven’t just been clearing money off the books so they can sit idly by and make Deshaun Watson want out of town even more.

At least, you would hope that’s not the case.

The team made a horrendous decision last year to trade DeAndre Hopkins for David Johnson and a second-round draft choice. That historically bad trade has bit the Texans in a residual way Bill O’Brien could not have anticipated at the time.

While Watson wants out of town, Houston really has to do everything they can to get him to want to come back. Perhaps adding a playmaker like Golladay at receiver would at least get the conversation going with Watson, and they have some connections on staff to be able to recruit Golladay.
