Washington Football Team mock draft: Round 2, 51st overall

Pick Analysis. CB. Florida State. 2. 804. Scouting Report. Asante Samuel Jr.. player

If Washington loses Ronald Darby in free agency, cornerback could quickly become a major position of need for this team. However, even if he comes back, it still stands out as a position that they could address early. In this mock draft, Asante Samuel Jr. stands out as another great value pick for the team as they snag him in the second round.

Samuel is a quick and smooth cover corner who shows tremendous instincts at the position. He is sticky in man coverage, showing the ability to play up and defend bigger receivers and also match up well against quicker guys. His lack of size and inexperience in zone coverage is less than ideal, but Samuel’s natural coverage ability is for real.

A starting cornerback trio of Kendall Fuller, Darby and Samuel would have tremendous upside and pair extremely well with Washington’s elite defensive line.

Washington Football Team mock draft: Round 3, 74th overall

838. Pick Analysis. WR. Dyami Brown. North Carolina. 3. player. Scouting Report

In Terry McLaurin, Washington already has a true No. 1 receiver who they can count on as a big-time playmaker going forward. That being said, this team does lack true impact depth at the wide receiver position and could easily make the spot a priority in the 2021 NFL Draft. In the third round of this mock draft, the Washington Football Team brings in Dyami Brown as a potential running-mate for McLaurin on the outside.

Brown is a fantastic athlete who is going to make his money as a dynamic deep threat at the next level. He shows blazing speed on the outside and is a threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field. Brown is also a tough and competitive wide receiver who competes well in contested-catch situations and can create after the catch.

At this point in his career, Brown is a limited route runner who has not been asked to impact the game in a variety of ways. That being said, his deep speed is for real and he certainly shows some upside in other areas. Brown is a ball of clay, but if he progresses well and learns to make an impact as more than a deep threat, his long-term upside in Washington would be absolutely massive.
