This early in the process, it is difficult to pinpoint specific draft needs for NFL teams. With an active free agency period ahead of us, rosters will be changing soon and the more obvious needs will start to become clear. Right now, wide receiver does not stand out as a major position of need for the Arizona Cardinals, but that could certainly change as we get closer to the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Cardinals obviously have DeAndre Hopkins locked up as their premier No. 1 target on the outside, but there are a lot of questions at the wide receiver position behind him.

Larry Fitzgerald has a retirement decision to make, but even if he returns, he is a complementary player at best at this point of his career. Christian Kirk is a solid player, but he will be a free agent after the 2021 season. On top of that, Andy Isabella and KeeSean Johnson have not exactly grown into impact playmakers at the position.

The 2021 NFL Draft class is absolutely loaded at the wide receiver position and the Arizona Cardinals would be wise to attack the depth of this class. This is probably not a first-round need for this team, but attacking wide receiver as early as the second round would certainly make sense. In particular, Amon-Ra St. Brown, a gifted wide receiver prospect out of USC, stands out as a strong fit.

With Hopkins consistently making plays, the Cardinals already have an impact playmaker on the outside. Ideally, Arizona would be able to find a receiver who can make a consistent impact in the middle of the field and St. Brown would fit well.

St. Brown is a quick and precise route runner who does a great job of separating against man coverage, releasing off of the line of scrimmage and shows soft hands. St. Brown does a majority of his damage out of the slot, consistently finding space in the short-to-intermediate range and creating well after the catch. He is also an extremely tough pass-catcher who is not afraid to take hits over the middle of the field.

While St. Brown does a majority of his damage as an early separator and run-after-catch weapon, do not sleep on his ability to win deep. He displays good deep speed out of the slot and also tracks the ball in the air extremely well. Make no mistake about it, St. Brown could quickly become a sneaky deep-ball playmaker for Kyler Murray and company in Arizona.

Wide receiver is undoubtedly a potential need for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft and finding a playmaker who can make a consistent impact for the team in the middle of the field would be ideal. St. Brown stands out as a great fit for this team and could be a tremendous value selection if the Cardinals are able to land him with their selection in the middle of the second round.
