2021 NFL mock draft: Round 2, Pick 59

Syracuse. 2. player. 827. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DB. Ifeatu Melifonwu

This pick makes a lot more sense for the Cleveland Browns than the Marshall pick. It’s been well documented that the Browns are in the market for another defensive back and Ifeatu Melifonwu is one of the names that has been linked to the team. Even getting Grant Delpit back from injury, another young player with potential would go a long way in the secondary.

Melifonwu won’t create a bunch of turnovers fro the secondary, but his style of play is rather similar to that of Delpit. Delpit’s numbers are a bit better, but the skill set is comparable. The big thing for Melifonwu is that he registered at least six passes defended in each of his three seasons at Syracuse. Having someone who can track the ball well and make a play, even if it isn’t always an interception, would be a big plus for the team.

2021 NFL mock draft: Round 3, Pick 89

Ohio State. player. 812. Pick Analysis. DT. Tommy Togiai. 3. Scouting Report

This is a high potential pick, rather than one based on stats. The interior of the Browns defensive line is rather solid at the moment with Sheldon Richardson as the group’s anchor, but looking ahead to expiring contracts adding another player to the unit is a good idea.

Over his time at Ohio State, Tommy Togiai logged 8.5 tackles for loss with 4.5 coming in 2020. He was able to get into the backfield for three sacks this past season as well. The burst that Togiai showed is enough to raise his stock. However, given that he’s a bit undersized at 6-foot-2, 300 and didn’t have anyone big stat, there might be better options here. Not to say that Togiai is a bad pick, but I think the Browns front office could find a better player here.

2021 NFL mock draft: Round 3, Pick 91

Pick Analysis. 817. LSU. Jabril Cox. 3. player. Scouting Report. LB

The Cleveland Browns are no stranger to LSU linebackers and in this 2021 NFL mock draft, the computer has them add another. Linebacker is arguably the biggest need for the Browns this offseason, or at least one of the top three, so it makes sense to address the need in the first or second day of the draft.

A graduate transfer from North Dakota State, Cox made the most of his lone season at LSU, doing a little bit of everything. In total, Cox registered 58 tackles, three interceptions, 6.5 tackles for loss and a sack on the season. He has the ability to drop back into coverage while also having pass rush abilities.

A two-time FCS All-American at North Dakota State, Cox caught the eye of the defending National Champions in the transfer portal and he’s now drawing similar looks from NFL teams. In this case, it’s the Browns that make the call on draft day.
