Anytime a new GM or head coach comes to an NFL city, you have to look for free agent possibilities with some connections, right?

It just so happens that coming over from the Seahawks, Scott Fitterer would have a chance to bring in one of the Seahawks’ best draft picks in the last decade — linebacker KJ Wright.

Wright has been outstanding the past couple of seasons with 228 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, a pair of sacks, 21 pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. There is no doubt that Wright, who turns 32 in July, has good football left in him and with such a young Carolina defense, he could provide a much-needed veteran presence.

This year’s 2021 NFL Draft crop is pretty strong at the linebacker position so the Panthers shouldn’t just ignore that possibility, but they are going to have a number of areas offensively to address in the draft and they might have to wait until the third or fourth round at the earliest to go with a linebacker.

Bringing in a veteran like KJ Wright who can do a little bit of everything is going to make everyone on that young Panthers defensive unit.
