2. Gerald Everett, TE, Rams (age: 27 in June)

Although the Panthers have some really explosive playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, the tight end position is one clear area that is lacking.

Former fourth-round pick Ian Thomas is still a young guy who has promise but he might be best served in a tandem role at the position moving forward.

The Panthers could have eyes on Kyle Pitts in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft but they cannot hedge their bets on him and him alone. If the Panthers aren’t picking high enough to land Pitts, the rest of the tight end class is underwhelming by comparison.

They need to protect themselves by getting a viable TE1 option in free agency first and Gerald Everett is ready for that role.

He’s been playing in tandem with Tyler Higbee in Los Angeles and he’s been a very solid threat in that secondary role. With the Panthers, I think he could explode onto the scene as a TE1. He has tremendous athleticism and I think he could be utilized more heavily in the red zone.

Turning 27 in June, I think Everett could be one of the really sneaky-good free agent pickups of this whole offseason circuit.
