NFL mock draft 2021: Four quarterbacks in the top five, Watson stays put
If you watched the NFC Championship Game this year you should have no problem with this pick of the 2021 NFL mock draft. The Tampa Bay edge rushers FEASTED on the Green Bay tackles for five sacks.
Needless to say, the Green Bay Packers need to bring in a right tackle (and get left tackle David Bakhtiari back healthy). They need to capitalize on whatever time they have left with Aaron Rodgers and they cannot do that if he is running for his life or even injured due to lack of protection.
Jalen Mayfield would have been a dream choice, in my opinion, but Teven Jenkins from Oklahoma State is a big riser who is not a bad consolation prize. Jenkins is a 6-foot-6, 310 lb mauler who loves to finish blocks to the ground.
While Jenkins might be a little top-heavy and has a tendency to reach early in his pass set, he generally has good technique and uses the defender’s momentum against them. Once he gets his hands on a rusher, it’s typically game over.
In the run game, Jenkins has powerful drive and consistently drives defenders back five yards into their own defensive backfield. He is a solid mover that loves to get to the next level and take on smaller defenders.
The Green Bay Packers received a ton of flack last draft for selecting Aaron Rodgers’ “replacement” instead of providing him with the help he needed to get over the hump. While most people were likely talking about wide receivers last year, I feel that a solid right tackle is a much bigger need in this 2021 NFL mock draft and Jenkins fits the mold.
