Offensive Tackle. Michigan. 25. player. Pick Analysis. 52. Scouting Report. Jalen Mayfield

Jalen Mayfield is one of my favorite players in this 2021 NFL mock draft. His pass set is as smooth as I have seen and his addition would be a welcomed sight for new quarterback, Trevor Lawrence.

Like the Jets, the Jacksonville Jaguars have their fair share of holes in their roster, but also their fair share of picks to fill them. Protecting their coveted gunslinger needs to be the priority.

Mayfield is as technically sound as they come as a pass-protecting tackle. His footwork is pristine and his hand usage is incredibly effective. Despite being more technical than powerful, Mayfield has an NFL body at 6-foot-5 and 319 lbs.

Mayfield uses his heavy hands to his advantage in the run game. He stays engaged with defenders and turns them with ease to open holes. His effectiveness as a run blocker and pass protector will make him a welcomed sight for Lawrence, James Robinson and new head coach Urban Meyer.

Mayfield played primarily right tackle for the Wolverines, but he has everything that it takes to make the transition to the left side, with Cam Robinson set to hit free agency for the Jaguars. Just as Jedrick Wills Jr. did a year ago for the Cleveland Browns, Jalen Mayfield could make the move and really turn around that Jacksonville line for years to come.
