Pick Analysis. Virginia Tech. Christian Darrisaw. Scouting Report. Offensive Tackle. 21. player. 46

The Indianapolis Colts had long been projected a quarterback in a 2021 NFL mock draft like this, but the team recently made a big trade for former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. With Wentz in the fold, the team will have to set him up to succeed, unlike the Eagles a season ago.

Colts’ long-time left tackle, Anthony Costanzo, made the decision to retire this offseason, leaving a giant gap in the Colts’ top-notch offensive line. Placing a guy like Christian Darrisaw next to Quenton Nelson and Ryan Kelly would be a nightmare for defensive lines everywhere.

Darrisaw is a massive human at 6-foot-5 and 314 lbs. He is a big mauler who excels at manipulating defenders in the run game. He uses his strong hands and powerful body to engage and turn defenders to open up holes in the run game.

As a pass blocker, Darrisaw has shown flashes of ability to lock up edge rushers but rarely went one-on-one with defensive ends as Virginia Tech operated a run-heavy offense with creative pass protections.

Carson Wentz would surely appreciate this pick, as some dedication to his success with the team. Darrisaw, along with the stout front that they already possess, would really help the growth and development of this young offense under Frank Reich.
