While I’m sure many people may feel that this may be a little too high for a player like Jaycee Horn in this 2021 NFL mock draft, I implore you to take a look at the San Francisco 49ers depth chart and who they currently have under contract at the cornerback position.
Right now, Emmanuel Moseley and Ken Webster are the only corners on the roster. Sure, they may bring back one or more of Richard Sherman, Jason Verrett, Ahkello Witherspoon and Jamar Taylor, but with all of them set to hit free agency, the Niners must be looking to address the position.
Jaycee Horn is a very physical corner in every sense of the word. Something that John Lynch will respect. Horn thrives when going up against high-level competition and is eager to take on any challenge thrown his way.
Whether in press man, off-man or zone, Horn always finds a receiver and stays glued to them through the catch point. He is very adept at breaking up passes and will let the receiver know when he gets the best of them.
San Francisco made the Super Bowl on the back of their defense just a couple of seasons ago and must ensure that they can keep that up going forward. With no proven corners on the roster, snagging one early in this 2021 NFL mock draft should help greatly to turn things back around quickly in The Bay.
