Detroit Lions 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 4, 112th overall

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. EDGE. 815. Oklahoma. Ronnie Perkins. 4. player

Ronnie Perkins is an interesting edge rusher who undoubtedly has some exciting upside at the next level. He is explosive off of the ball and consistently gets up the field quickly. Perkins shows some ability as an outside speed rusher and is more powerful than you would expect for his slender build. Perkins is a bit of a raw edge defender, but he flashes major upside as both a pass rusher and run defender up front.

The Lions have limited Day 3 resources at the moment and could look to trade down if the right opportunity presented itself. In this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Lions swap fifth-round picks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and pick up a seventh-round selection for their troubles. More bites at the apple are not a bad thing for a rebuilding squad.

Detroit Lions 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 5, 186th overall

Pick Analysis. Iowa. Ihmir Smith-Marsette. player. 878. Scouting Report. WR. 5

Ihmir Smith-Marsette is a quick and explosive wide receiver prospect who shows impact ability as both a deep threat and a run-after-catch playmaker. Smith-Marsette did not have the greatest production in college, but his draft stock should not be hurt too much because of that due to Iowa’s ineffective passing attack. He did the best with what he had to work with.

The Detroit Lions have massive needs at the wide receiver position and Smith-Marsette is an exciting playmaker who could be a steal in this range. This feels like a pick that could pay off in a major way for Detroit, as they could give Smith-Marsette plenty of chances to shine early in his career.

Detroit Lions 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 7, 246th overall

Pick Analysis. DL. Scouting Report. Coastal Carolina. Tarron Jackson. 7. player. 50

The Lions go back to the defensive side of the ball for their final pick of this 2021 NFL mock draft, adding Coastal Carolina defensive lineman Tarron Jackson to the mix in the seventh round. Jackson is a big edge defender who gets off of the ball quickly and shows strong hands at all times. He is a tough and physical player whose motor is always running hot, leading to strong play both as a run defender and pass rusher.

Jackson does not have high-level athletic upside, but he is a rock-solid football player who could grow into an important versatile defensive lineman for a team like Detroit.
