Detroit Lions 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 2, 41st overall

IDL. Alabama. 2. player. 829. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Christian Barmore

The Detroit Lions will likely look to address their defensive line situation in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Lions have needs all across their defensive line and should be looking for value on the interior and at the edge rusher position.

In the second round of this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Lions find that value on the inside, taking Christian Barmore out of Alabama at No. 41. Barmore is arguably the top interior defensive lineman in this class and undoubtedly has exciting upside at the next level.

Barmore is quick off of the ball, displays powerful hands and has a knack for firing through and making plays behind the line of scrimmage. He is a tremendous one-gap penetrator who should be able to come in and make an immediate impact on passing downs at the next level.

Barmore is a bit of a project player who may not always hold up well against the run early in his career, but his ability to penetrate through the line and make splash plays in the backfield gives Barmore exciting playmaking upside up front. The Lions would be wise to target Barmore in this range, as he would give their defense a much-needed spark up front.
