2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 16th overall

Michigan. 16. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 32. EDGE. Kwity Paye

Listed at 6-foot-4, 277 pounds, Kwity Paye is certainly a bit thicker than most edge rushers. There is a power element to his game that must not be taken lightly. Paye is extremely powerful at the point of attack and consistently sets a strong edge. However, Paye also moves extremely well for a man of his size.

He is quick off of the ball and even shows a bit of flexibility around the edge. Paye converts from speed to power extremely well and is a legitimate impact player against the run and as a pass rusher. He is also a high-motor player who always seems to make his way into the backfield.

Paye does not fit the Arizona Cardinals’ typical type of edge rusher, but his combination of size, power and athletic ability gives him some nice versatility up front. Eventually, Paye is going to become an impact player who can wreak havoc up front from nearly every position.

2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 17th overall

Alabama. 17. 28. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. IDL. Christian Barmore. player

After allowing the third-most points in the entire NFL last season, the Las Vegas Raiders will likely make their defense a priority this offseason. Under the direction of new defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, the Raiders will need to create pressure up front by primarily using their front four. Bradley does not like to blitz often so finding impact defensive linemen who can penetrate and create pressure will be important.

Christian Barmore is the best interior defensive lineman in this class and he shines as a one-gap penetrator on the inside. Barmore is quick off of the ball and shows fantastic hand usage as a pass rusher. He is a bit of a raw talent who will need to develop some against the run, but Barmore should be able to come in and make an immediate impact on the interior on passing downs.
